Drinking water helps with weight loss, keeps your immunity up during flu and cold season and helps to naturally detox your body.

  • A simple formula I was always told is to take your weight and divide it in half.
  • The number you come up with from that formula is the number of ounces you should be drinking a day.

1. Drink plain water when you wake

Make a habit of drinking plain water when you wake.

  • Fill up a glass of water the night before and put it on your nightstand.
  • Upon waking (maybe after your morning elimination) drink your first glass of water.
  • I know it’s just plain water but gulp that down. Your body will be dehydrated from the night before and will appreciate the morning hydration.

Get yourself a water bottle to develop the water drinking habit.
I use a S’well water bottle that is 25 oz. I drink one full bottle of plain water before I move on to my morning routine.
This is something you can work up to.

2. Drink a lemon water cocktail

Drinking water, especially lemon water when you first wake up is great for energy levels, will help get your digestive system going, and give you needed vitamin C.

Lemon water is a part of a morning ritual for many health-conscious people.
It is full of vitamin C and many have touted it as part of a weight-loss regimen, but how does it work?

If you are an avid tea drinker, I hope you have developed a taste for herbal teas because they can help with your water intake but they are also very good for your health. Herbal teas are a great way to drink more water throughout the day.

Herbal teas do not contain caffeine and come in a variety of flavors. You can drink them with or without sweeteners. Some of the most popular herbal teas are:

  • Peppermint
  • Ginger
  • Chamomile (drink this at the end of your day when you want to relax)
  • Hibiscus
  • Lemon Balm
  • Rooibis

You can drink these hot or iced with your favorite sweetner.
I use Stevia which is a no calorie sweetner that is all natural.

4. Drink Home-made Sparkling Water

Sparkling water with a splash of flavor is another great way to increase your water intake.
Here’s how to make your own homemade sparkling water:

  • Use a SodaStream (pay no attention to the name) to create the carbonated water.
  • Fill up the SodaStream bottle to the top line.
  • Place the bottle in the SodaStream and push down the grey button to add the CO2. (Please follow SodaStream instructions)
  • Add flavor drops the sparkling water.
  • Add the top and gently mix the flavor drops and the sparkling water.
  • Enjoy your sparkling water!

5. Drink Fruit-Infused Water

Use other fruits to flavor your water.

If you’ve ever been to a spa, you will be familiar with spa water which is usually a combination of fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices.
Another name for this water is “Detox” water as many believe it helps to detoxify the body.
There are many recipes out there and if you are interested, you can search Google and find a lot of them.

The most popular ingredients I’ve seen in spa water have been:
